EV Charger Installation

How we approach it
The charger is the easy part.
The wall connector takes an hour. What takes judgment is whether your service can carry 48 amps continuous with the AC running in August. We run the load calculation first, then tell you whether it is a straight install, a load-management setup, or a service upgrade — with the price for each before you commit to anything.
When to call
Worth a capacity review before you buy the charger.
The new car arrives before the garage is ready for it.
Charging on a standard 120-volt outlet is not keeping up with daily driving.
The panel is already tight with HVAC, pool equipment, or a second vehicle.
The parking spot is far from the panel, outdoors, or across a driveway.
Typical scope
The scope, line by line.
- 01
- Tesla and universal Level 2 chargers
Tesla Wall Connectors, J1772 units, and NACS-ready equipment installed hardwired or on a 14-50 receptacle, depending on the equipment and the circuit.
- 02
- Panel capacity and load review
A load calculation on the existing service tells us whether the charger fits as-is, needs load management, or needs a service upgrade first.
- 03
- Dedicated 240-volt circuits
Conductors and overcurrent protection sized for the charger's continuous rating, not the smallest wire that will pass a glance.
- 04
- Garage, carport, and exterior routing
Conduit runs planned around stucco, block, attic access, and outdoor exposure so the finished route looks deliberate.
- 05
- Permit and inspection coordination
We identify the permit path for your city, pull what the scope requires, and meet the inspector at the property.
- 06
- Clean cable and equipment management
Mounting height, cable reach, and holster placement set so the connector reaches the port without dragging on the ground.
How the work runs
Four steps, every time.
The scope changes from job to job. The sequence does not, so you always know what happens next and what it depends on.
- Review the service
We check the panel rating, existing loads, and available spaces to confirm what the property can support.
- Choose circuit and route
Charger amperage, conductor size, and the conduit path are decided together with where you actually park.
- Install and permit
The circuit, disconnect if required, and equipment are installed, then inspected per the local requirements.
- Commission and verify
We energize the charger, confirm a full-rate charge on your vehicle, and walk you through the settings.

EV charging answers
Questions about ev charger installation.
Can V12 Electric install Tesla and universal Level 2 chargers?
Yes. V12 Electric installs Tesla Wall Connectors and universal Level 2 charging equipment with a dedicated circuit, suitable mounting, and a route planned around the parking location.
Do I need a panel upgrade for a Level 2 EV charger?
Not always. A panel and load review determines whether the existing service has capacity or whether load management, a smaller charging circuit, or a service upgrade is appropriate.
Does an EV charger installation need a permit?
Requirements vary by city and scope. The installation plan should account for the local permit and inspection path before work is scheduled.
How long does an EV charger installation take?
A straightforward installation is usually completed in a day. A long conduit run, a panel change, or a required upgrade adds time, and any of that is identified before scheduling.
Should the charger be hardwired or plugged into a 14-50 outlet?
It depends on the equipment and the location. Hardwiring supports higher continuous output and outdoor installations; a receptacle can make sense for portable equipment in a garage.
